Dallas Icon Weir's Furniture to Close After 78 Years

    2026-03-26 16

DALLAS, TX — On March 25, 2026, the historic Dallas-based retailer Weir’s Furniture announced it will permanently close all operations after nearly eight decades in business.

The company's Board of Directors cited unsustainable market conditions and long-term financial challenges as the primary reasons for the decision. “Closing now enables us to honor the legacy of our founders, J. Ray and Bea Weir, by finishing well and taking care of our employees,” said Al Boulden, Chairman of the Board.

    Key Details:

    • Liquidation Sale: A store-wide "Going-Out-of-Business" sale begins Thursday, March 26, 2026.

    • Locations Affected: All four North Texas showrooms (Knox Street, Plano, Southlake, and Farmers Branch) will shutter once inventory is cleared, expected by early summer.

    • Legacy: Founded in 1948, the family-owned business has been a staple of the North Texas furniture industry for generations.
